Farmer Business Network Brings Artificial Intelligence to the Farm

Last week, Farmers Business Network (FBN®) introduced an innovative AI-powered agronomic advisor, named Norm℠, which leverages publicly available data and FBN proprietary data feeds to provide farmers with a comprehensive range of agronomic intelligence. Norm, built on OpenAI's Chatbot GPT-3.5, is the first of its kind in the industry and aims to help farmers make informed decisions in their farming practices. FBN is encouraging its members to experiment with Norm and provide feedback to improve its capabilities.

“We don’t think Norm will ever be a full replacement for your agronomist, but we do think that in the future Norm will be a valuable tool for your operation, enhancing your access to agronomic knowledge and decision making” Farmer Business Network.

Norm draws on a wide range of data sources, including weather insights, soil monitoring, application rates, product labels, current events, university research, and grower commentary. This enables growers to ask a wide range of questions related to agronomics, farm business, animal health, and product usage. With the ability to learn from its interactions with farmers, Norm has the potential to become an invaluable tool for farmers seeking to optimize their farming practices.
