Carbon Robotics Raises $30 Million in Funding for LaserWeeder

Carbon Robotics, a leader in AI-powered robots, recently closed an additional $30 million in Series C funding from new investor Sozo Ventures. Sozo joins 5 other existing investors including Anthos Capital, Fuse Venture Capital, Ignition Partners, Liquid2, and Voyager Capital. The latest round of financing earmarked for expanding sales regions in North America, optimizing and scaling manufacturing, developing new software and hardware products, as well as launching into international markets. To date, the company has raised $67 million in total funding.


The LaserWeeder has killed over 500 million weeds across 40 different crops including, tomatoes, onions, romaine, carrots, and more. The robot identifies weeds and targets them for elimination. The implement’s 30 high-powered CO2 lasers use thermal energy to destroy the meristem of the weed with millimeter accuracy, without damaging nearby crops or disturbing the soil.
