New ICU Beds Could Save Lives And The Mercy Medical Golf Tournament Is Making It Happen

A Day on the Green for a Life-Saving Cause

On May 30, 2025, The Ag Center proudly participated in Mercy Medical Center Merced Foundation’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament at Pheasant Run Golf Club in Chowchilla. More than just a great day of golf, the event served a higher purpose — raising vital funds to improve the care patients receive in Mercy’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As a sponsor and supporter of this event, The Ag Center joined forces with other local businesses and community leaders to help ensure that Mercy Medical Center can provide top-tier medical support for its most vulnerable patients.

Why ICU Bed Upgrades Matter

The ICU is where lives hang in the balance — and every detail counts. Right now, Mercy Medical Center is in the process of replacing outdated ICU beds with state-of-the-art equipment that will dramatically improve patient outcomes.

These new beds will feature:

  • Intelligent pressure monitoring to help prevent bedsores and skin breakdown,

  • Integrated vital sign tracking for real-time monitoring of critical changes, and

  • Mobility-enhancing features that aid faster recovery and reduce complications like pneumonia and blood clots.

Modern ICU beds are more than just a place to rest — they are advanced care tools that give doctors and nurses the precision and flexibility to respond faster and more effectively.

Agri-Valley Consulting Helps Bridge Agriculture and Healthcare

The Ag Center’s involvement in this event was made possible thanks to Agri-Valley Consulting, one of our trusted affiliate partners. Based in the Central Valley, Agri-Valley provides crop consulting, soil and tissue analysis, and customized agronomic strategies for growers. They’ve built a reputation on helping farms thrive through science-backed, boots-on-the-ground support.

Owner Chris Morgner’s wife, Kaaren Morgner, serves on the Mercy Medical Center Foundation Board, where she donates her time and expertise to advance the Foundation’s mission. Her dedication to both agriculture and healthcare helped make the connection that brought us into this event — and we’re proud to have joined forces to support such a vital cause.

Community Support That Makes a Difference

Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and donors, this year’s tournament brought the community together around a shared mission: to give every ICU patient the best possible chance at recovery.

The Ag Center's support underscores how agriculture and healthcare go hand-in-hand in keeping the Central Valley strong. California growers, workers, and families all depend on quality local healthcare, and we’re proud to invest in a cause that benefits everyone in the region.

Looking Ahead

The golf tournament was a huge success, and the impact of the funds raised will be felt far beyond the fairways. As Mercy Medical Center begins the process of upgrading its ICU beds, lives will be touched and saved because of this community’s support.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Mercy Medical Center Merced Foundation and encourage others to get involved in future events. When we come together as a community, we create real change — on and off the course.
